Lesson-one

Hopefully the previous warm-up helps us to start the first part of the lesson. The first part of this lesson is all about greeting.

Greetings are an essential part of our everyday communication. They bring a personal touch to interacting with another person. When you greet a person properly and naturally, it gives you a chance for further discussion and conversation.”

In English there are two kinds of greetings

  • Formal and informal greetings

Formal greetings are used in more professional or polite situations, while informal greetings are used in casual or familiar situations.

Here are examples of formal greetings:

  1. Good morning/afternoon/evening.
  2. Hello, how do you do?
  3. Nice to meet you.
  4. How are you today?

Here are examples of informal greetings:

  1. Hi!
  2. Hey, what’s up?
  3. What’s going on?
  4. How’s it going
  5. Yo, what’s happening?

Before we start practicing our conversation skills, It is a good idea to follow this best tip from successful learners: To achieve the best results, use this perfect study plan for speaking.”

  1. Listen to and read the conversation.
  2. Listen and repeat after the speaker.
  3. Imitate what they said.
  4. Study all common phrases.
  5. Pay attention to intonation(the rise and fall of pitch in speech) and pronunciation (means speaking words with their appropriate sounds, stresses, and accents)
  6. Record and listen to yourself

Now it is time to practice. We are going to practice how people greet each other formally and informally in their everyday conversation. As usual, follow the speaking study plan.”
